PORT OF WEIPA NOTICE TO BOATIES - START OF MAJOR DREDGING PROJECT
PCQ will start a $27 million dredging project in the Weipa South Channel and Inner Harbour in late May.
Survey work for the project will start soon and the project is expected to be finished by the end of September.
Local and visiting boaties are asked to take extra care when in the area during that time.
The dredgers, as well as support surveying vessels, may have restricted manoeuvring capability so boaties are asked to heed the displayed warning flags and lights and give the vessels clear passage.
