PORTS CORPORATION OF QUEENSLAND GIVES $3000 SPONSORSHIP TO WESTERN CAPE CULTURAL COLLEGE

Ports Corporation of Queensland (PCQ) through its port communities program, has given $3000 to Western Cape Cultural College to assist in constructing shade structures in the garden areas in both school and also over the basketball/netball courts.

Western Cape College has 700 students enrolled in Grades 1 – 12 and this figure is expected to increase by about 150 students next year.

Acting PCQ Chief Executive Officer, Paul Blewonski, said the college had a shortage of shaded areas and PCQ was pleased to be providing assistance to what is clearly a valuable asset for both Weipa and the wider region.

The College Parents and Citizens Assocation (P & C) has been very active in fundraising.

With support from local businesses and community groups, they have raised funds for air-conditioning, construction of a shed, computer labs and much more.

Combined with ongoing local support, this assistance from PCQ will ensure the much needed shade structures will be constructed.
